Pizza Inn Adventure

Friday after we went to the hospital and saw my friend Nicole's new niece, Nicole, Amanda, and I decided to go eat at Pizza Inn for dinner.  When we left the hospital we turned on the headlights in my car so we could see to get out of the parking garage.  When we arrived at Pizza Inn we got out and went inside.  After eating our weight in pizza we paid and went outside to get into my car.  When we put the key in and tried to crank the car nothing happened, then we noticed that my lights had been on for the entire time.  We sat there for a little while trying to figure out what to do because I did not have jumper cables and the way the car was parked made it impossible to use the jumper cables if we had any.  So finally I called my mom and told her what happened, when I told her she busted out laughing and said we better find some jumper cables from a kind stranger.  We finally found some jumper cables from a man who worked at Pizza Inn, but we still had a problem with the position of the car.  We finally decided to put the car in neutral and push it to the parking space behind us.  Finally after doing all of that we got the car crunk.  I called my mom back and told her that after putting on the jumper cables the car still would not crank, she said "ok, I will come get you all."  Then we started laughing and told her "APRIL FOOLS!"  She then told us that we had to go by Krispy Kreme and get her some donuts for being mean.  All in all the night was fun, except for me having to push my car and all of the people at Pizza Inn staring at us laughing.

Baby!!!

My friend Nicole's older sister finally had her baby last Thursday.  She named the little girl Harlee Grace and she was eight pounds seven ounces and was 22 inches long.  It seemed like we were waiting on her to have her baby forever! When she finally came everyone was so excited.  Nicole came home from the College of Charleston this weekend to see her new niece and I met her at the hospital to see the new baby too. When I walked in and saw the baby I could not believe just how much she looked like her mother! She had a head full of that Burrell hair and the chunkiest cheeks that you have ever seen.  We had to be extra carful when we held her because when she was giving birth the baby's shoulders got stuck and the doctors said that they think it caused her to get a fracture in her collar bone.  She has to come back to the hospital in about two weeks to have it checked out and to make sure it is healing correctly.  I am really happy that the baby is finally here and cannot wait till it is big enough to wear the cute outfits that I got her.

Disney World!!

For my senior trip my school took us to Disney World.  I had never been to Disney World before so I was really excited.  We rode in a charter bus to Orlando.  It took forever to get there and most people slept.  The only problem was that the seats were really uncomfortable and so that morning when we arrived in Orlando everyone was not in a good mood.  We ate at McDonald's that morning before we went to the park, half of the students had to brush their teeth and change their clothes in the bathrooms at McDonald's.  When we finally arrived at the gate of Disney everyone went crazy and were so excited.  The first day we stayed in the main park and had a blast.  By the end of the day everyone was so tired and was ready to get a good night sleep at the hotel.  Through out the days that we were in Orlando we went to all of the Disney parks.  We had a great time at each of them.  The only thing that I would change would be the amount of time that we got to spend there.  Having only a day at each park was not really enough time because the parks are so big.  I would have liked to stay at least two days at each park.

Third times the charm

I have not had the best luck with my college career.  I thought that I had picked the perfect college when I chose to attend the College of Charleston for Fall 2010 but I soon found out that it was not for me.  I then had to wait to start college the following Spring semester where I was going to attend North Greenville University.  I chose College of Charleston because I love to vacation in Charleston and I thought that the school was beautiful, I then chose North Greenville because it was close enough to home that I can go home every weekend and during the week if I wanted, I also have friends from high school that go here and like it.  But at both of these schools I have found that I am not happy.  So for the Fall 2011 semester I am thinking about transfering to another college with my friend from high school who does not like College of Charleston.  So hopefully the third time is the charm.

It never ends

This weekend my mom asked me to help her with one of her yard projects.  I agreed not knowing what I was getting myself into.  We have a rectangle shaped piece of yard that is located at the back corner of our yard that every year my mom plants a garden. She does pretty good with it, planting the individual plants the right ways and watering them every evening.  But after a month or so she gets board with it.  But this year she has vowed to keep up with her garden and she wants my help too.  So first we had to get all the wire grass and weeds out of the garden.  It was so tireing pulling up all the weeds, we would first plow then sit on stools and pull out the weeds then start all over again.  Finally after getting all of the wire grass and weeds out we went to our local produce stand/green house to get the vegatables.  We got a large variety of plants and after getting them into the ground we were soooo tired.  I am kind of excited to pick the vegatables and cook them this summer, hopefully it all grows!

Puppy!!

This past week my friend from High School got a puppy for her little sister.  She asked me to go with her to pick up the puppy from the owner's house and I said yes.  It was a journey trying to find the owner's house we had to use my gps on my phone, and we still drove past her house and had to turn around.  When we finally got the puppy we fell in love.  The puppy is a tiny, white, fluffy, poof ball.  She was giving the puppy to her little sister because their older sister was having a baby and my friend did not want her to feel left out.  The older sister's baby shower was that Saturday and when we went my sister fell in love with the new puppy.  My sister begged and begged my mom to get her one but she said no.  I kind of felt bad for my sister because when I was her age I got my own puppy, but I ended up giving it back.  So in the end I think that it is a good thing that my mom isn't giving her one.

School again :(

Well spring break is now over and it's back to the dorm.  No more home cooked food, family, or mom doing my laundry.  The week before spring break I had a severe case of bumitis.  I was wearing sweatpants all day and I was doing good to be getting to my classes on time and doing the assignments.  Ugh, I really needed this time off!  I feel well rested now and ready to get to work.  It is Sunday evening now and my vacation is winding down to the final hours.  I have some homework and studying that I need to get done, but I still feel like I am on vacation and I cannot get myself to do it.  Maybe spring break should be longer, but then I don't know if I would ever want to come back and do work.

Winning?

I think everyone by now has heard of the downfall of Charlie Sheen.  I thought that Charlie Sheen was a good actor, and  I loved to watch his show Two and a Half Men.  I have watched his infamous interviews and I cannot believe that he went into the interview on drugs and that his people let him do that.  The answers that he gave on his interviews went from being completely crazy to not making any sense.  He says that he does not need help to quit drinking or doing drugs.  He says that he "closed his eyes and made it so", and that he is now clean.  They have now fired him from his show and now his fame comes from all the crazy and bad things that he does.  Tiger Blood!  He claims that he is special and he has tiger blood in his veins.  I think that it is very sad that he is acting out this way.  It is terrible that his kids have to go through this and have to grow up with him as a father.  I hope that he can get better for his kids sake.

Spring!!

Spring is finally here!  This weekend I walked outside and noticed the trees were blooming with white flowers, I also smelled the trees.  They stink really bad!  The trees blooming also makes my allergies act up.  My mom is also really excited about Spring finally getting here.  She is mostly excited about the tulips that she planted last year.  Last year she bought over one hundred tulip bulbs for us to plant.  Now they are finally blooming so we can see how our hard work paid off.  Since the weather is warming up my weekends are going to consist of being outside and working in the yard with my family.  This year we also have put out numerous bird feeders and houses.  This is my mom's new obsession.  She has put out so much bird food that our yard has now been taken over by birds.  Spring is like the world is waking up from Winter and everything starts moving and living again.  But now I am excited for Summer!

Pets

There is a saying that you are either a dog person or a cat person....but I cannot figure out which one I am.  I like cats when they are a few weeks old and they are little and cute, but I cannot stand a hyper cat that scratches everything.  I have the same problem with dogs.  I love them when they are puppies, but as soon as they get into that hyper annoying phase I don't want anything to do with them.  But I do like dogs when they get old and lazy and you can just sit there all day and pet them while they nap.  I can say that I have never really wanted a bird as a pet, you can't really do anything with them but look at them and they are really loud.  Fish on the other hand are pretty cool pets.  Like birds, you can't really do anything with fish but they do come in really cool colors and are nice to take care of and to look at.

College Life

Starting my very first college semester this semester at North Greenville University, I have found that college is a lot easier than I expected.  When me and my friends talked about college in high school we thought that we would have so much more work to do than the homework that we had in high school and that the teachers were all going to be mean and not teach us anything only lecture.  But that is not the case, at least for me.  I will admit that I do have more homework than I did in high school, but that is due to the fact that I study almost everyday where in high school I did not usually have to study until right before a test.  All of my teachers are nice and really care about us doing our best.  They do not give us work that they don't think we can do, I think they just want us to give some effort and try our best.  College's biggest problem is that most kids do not know what to do with their new freedom.  Stay in the dorm and study or go out with friends?...which would you choose?  If you just manage your time and do your work you will be fine.

Soooo ready for Spring Break!

Spring Break cannot get here fast enough.  Unfortunately we still have two weeks until  I get to lay around on the couch and watch too much travel channel and food network.  On the Saturday of Spring Break I am going to Charleston to see my friend Nicole.  She goes to the College of Charleston so I am going to be spending the night in her dorm.  She asked me to come down because she is doing a spinning relay for a foundation.  She has to be on a spinning bicycle for five hours!  I told her I am coming so that when she falls off from exhaustion someone will be there to make sure she is still alive and breathing.  After the relay we are coming back home to Landrum because that is where we both live, hopefully she survives the relay.  Then our plan is to paint the kitchen in my house.  My mom has painted the kitchen numerous times and cannot find her "perfect kitchen color".  So she is making Nicole and I paint it again, after a week she will probably say that she doesn't like it and we will end up painting it again.

OCD much?

Like most siblings, my sister and I are constantly getting on each other's nerves.  She is very ADHD and unorganized where I am a little OCD.  When you mix two people like this together you get a train wreck.  For example, her room is always looks very messy and unorganized where my room is organized and clean.  I cannot understand why her room is like this and she cannot understand why I would want a room that is organized.  She likes her room messy, she says she can not find anything when she cleans her room.  It is like my sister and I are on the opposite ends of personality, we are completely different.  I hate being late for anything, but my sister is constantly late for everything.  She doesn't think it is a big deal to be late or forget something, where if I am late or if I forget something I get upset.  Sometimes I wish I was like my sister and not worry about things just to see how it is to be carefree.

Valentine Baby

Whenever I tell someone my birth date their reaction is the same.  "Awww your a Valentines baby!" , is what most say.  Don't get me wrong I like Valentine's Day as much as the next person, but after 19 years of getting either birthday cards that say Happy Valentine's Day or Valentine's Day cards that say Happy Birthday, it gets a little old.  I hate it when they try and mash the two days together!  They are two separate holidays.  So I made it a rule a couple of years ago that any birthday presents that I get cannot be pink, have hearts on them, or say Valentine's Day anywhere on them.  So now my parents get my brother, sister, and I a Valentine's Day present and then they give me my birthday present.  I feel sorry for my husband, he is gonna have to save up his money every year for me a birthday and a Valentine's Day gift.

Home :)

Every Friday after my last class I go home for the weekend.  My house is about 40 minutes away from North Greenville so the drive is not bad.  I really like going home for the weekend because it gives me a chance to hang out with my family and relax at home.  If I am feeling homesick during the week I sometimes go home and eat dinner with my family and then drive back to school.  Some college kids, when they come home, ask their moms to cook them their favorite dish or meal.  But we always have to go to our favorite Mexican Restruant.  Our family goes there so much that they know what we want to order before we tell them.  If we do not get to go to eat mexican we then go to our favorite Chinese Restruant.

Band Geek :)

Ok, I admit that I am a band geek.  I have played the flute since I was in the sixth grade and played the piccolo since the eleventh grade.  I also was in my high school's marching band, the Cardinal Pride (sometimes known as the Carolina Pride by competition judges who either cannot read or had forgotten their glasses that day), for five years.  And yep I was voted 1st Lt. my senior year.  But now since I am in college I really miss it.  I never thought that I would miss standing on the hot pavement at attention while getting yelled at, or running laps around the parking lot when we didn't get into our spots on time, or even playing the songs over and over and marching in a circle.  What it comes down to is, you don't know what you've got till its gone....wow that was really cheesy.

Superbowl!!

Since this Sunday is Superbowl Sunday our family decided to have a little get together watch the game and pig out on food.  We have all the traditional foods the chips, dip, shrimp, and we even have hot wings.  But my mom also asked me to make my famous pigs in a blanket.  Since I am such a nice and loving daughter I agreed, little did I know how many she wanted me to make!  So my pre-game fun was spent cutting Pillsbury cresent rolls into thirds and wrapping them around millions of cocktail winnies.  After finally getting the last pan out of the oven and onto a plate I took them into the dining room where I was swarmed by my family.  Needless to say they did not even make it to the singing of the National Anthem.

A little vitamin D

It is January 30th and the temperature outside is 72.  How can it go from 32 degrees on Thursday to 72 degrees only three days later?  Now don't get me wrong I'm not complaning it feels great outside but where did this heat come from, and is it gonna stay?  This whole weekend was really warm and beautiful outside so me and my family took advantage of it.  We have been outside enjoying the weather all day.  Saturday we spent the day in the yard teaching my little brother and cousin how to throw and catch a baseball.  Today, while they others were playing around in the yard with the soccer ball, me and my mom did the unthinkable.  We layed on a blanket in the driveway and got some sun.  I know, I still cannot believe that it was warm enough in January that we could soak up a little vitamin D.  Some people might be worried about global warming, but this weekend me and my family embraced it.

And I really wanted that Nook cover...

On my way home Friday, my mom called and asked me to pick up a few things from the grocery store.  After going through the line I swiped my card and punched in my pin number only to find that my card was declined.  After trying the card again and again I stared to get worried. I knew I had money in my account so what was the problem.  After getting mean looks from the ten people standing in line with their groceries I remembered I had another debit card I could use to pay.  I had just gotten the new card the other day and had not memorized my pin number.  So as I stood there racking my brain for what I could do before the people in line started a riot, I remembered that I could use the card as credit instead of debit.  After finally getting out of there I went to the ATM to check my balance on my card, but the ATM would not give me a balance.  When I got home I called my bank and asked them what was wrong with my card.  They went through and asked me all the places that I had used my card previously that week, but when they asked what I bought for $54 the day before I told them nothing.  I was then redirected to another person who informed me that my account was put on hold due to suspicious charges.  Come to find out someone in Madrid purchased something for $54 using my card.  I could not believe it!  Finally we got everything straightened out, cancelled that card and they are refunding me my money.  Guess I'm not ordering the new Nook cover I wanted this weekend.

I love my dentist :)

Every three months or so when I get that reminder in the mail from my dentist office to come in for my annual cleaning, I do a little dance.  I love going to the dentist!  I have been lucky so far because I have only ever had one cavity and never had to have braces, so my experiences with the dentist have been good ones.  When I was younger I even wanted the dentist to give me braces.  I think that most people are scared to go to the dentist because they make a big deal about the drills.  Most of the time the dentist doesn't even have to use the drill.  I think that if they would go regularly to the dentist and brush like they tell you too, then they would like the dentist too.

What you need for college....i think

Getting away from home and enjoying freedom is what is usually on college students minds especially freshmen in college, but that might not always be as great as they thought it would be.  Last year when I was a senior in high school and applying for colleges, the one college I had my mind set on attending the following fall was the College of Charleston.  I did everything; applied early, went to the campus tours, and even planed on rooming with one of my best friends from high school.  The acceptance letter came that Christmas like it was a present, I was so excited!  After that I began to get ready to move into the dorms, buying all the cute "must-haves" that I thought I needed.  I got new bedding, a television, lamp, organizing tubs, among other things. And obviously it all had to match.  Move-in day was terrible, if you have ever driven down any of the streets in downtown Charleston you know what I mean.  The one lane roads, massive pot holes, and all the traffic was just the beginning.  My dorm just happened to be on the fourth floor and so all the "cute stuff" for my room had to be hauled up the stairs because the elevators were full.  After being there a couple of days I realized that I didn't need half the stuff I brought!  So I learned that just because they say you must have everything matching and you must make your parents buy you things you probably won't use, just make sure you at least have clean underwear and food.  College has shown me that somtimes those two things are overlooked.
