A little vitamin D

It is January 30th and the temperature outside is 72.  How can it go from 32 degrees on Thursday to 72 degrees only three days later?  Now don't get me wrong I'm not complaning it feels great outside but where did this heat come from, and is it gonna stay?  This whole weekend was really warm and beautiful outside so me and my family took advantage of it.  We have been outside enjoying the weather all day.  Saturday we spent the day in the yard teaching my little brother and cousin how to throw and catch a baseball.  Today, while they others were playing around in the yard with the soccer ball, me and my mom did the unthinkable.  We layed on a blanket in the driveway and got some sun.  I know, I still cannot believe that it was warm enough in January that we could soak up a little vitamin D.  Some people might be worried about global warming, but this weekend me and my family embraced it.

And I really wanted that Nook cover...

On my way home Friday, my mom called and asked me to pick up a few things from the grocery store.  After going through the line I swiped my card and punched in my pin number only to find that my card was declined.  After trying the card again and again I stared to get worried. I knew I had money in my account so what was the problem.  After getting mean looks from the ten people standing in line with their groceries I remembered I had another debit card I could use to pay.  I had just gotten the new card the other day and had not memorized my pin number.  So as I stood there racking my brain for what I could do before the people in line started a riot, I remembered that I could use the card as credit instead of debit.  After finally getting out of there I went to the ATM to check my balance on my card, but the ATM would not give me a balance.  When I got home I called my bank and asked them what was wrong with my card.  They went through and asked me all the places that I had used my card previously that week, but when they asked what I bought for $54 the day before I told them nothing.  I was then redirected to another person who informed me that my account was put on hold due to suspicious charges.  Come to find out someone in Madrid purchased something for $54 using my card.  I could not believe it!  Finally we got everything straightened out, cancelled that card and they are refunding me my money.  Guess I'm not ordering the new Nook cover I wanted this weekend.

I love my dentist :)

Every three months or so when I get that reminder in the mail from my dentist office to come in for my annual cleaning, I do a little dance.  I love going to the dentist!  I have been lucky so far because I have only ever had one cavity and never had to have braces, so my experiences with the dentist have been good ones.  When I was younger I even wanted the dentist to give me braces.  I think that most people are scared to go to the dentist because they make a big deal about the drills.  Most of the time the dentist doesn't even have to use the drill.  I think that if they would go regularly to the dentist and brush like they tell you too, then they would like the dentist too.

What you need for college....i think

Getting away from home and enjoying freedom is what is usually on college students minds especially freshmen in college, but that might not always be as great as they thought it would be.  Last year when I was a senior in high school and applying for colleges, the one college I had my mind set on attending the following fall was the College of Charleston.  I did everything; applied early, went to the campus tours, and even planed on rooming with one of my best friends from high school.  The acceptance letter came that Christmas like it was a present, I was so excited!  After that I began to get ready to move into the dorms, buying all the cute "must-haves" that I thought I needed.  I got new bedding, a television, lamp, organizing tubs, among other things. And obviously it all had to match.  Move-in day was terrible, if you have ever driven down any of the streets in downtown Charleston you know what I mean.  The one lane roads, massive pot holes, and all the traffic was just the beginning.  My dorm just happened to be on the fourth floor and so all the "cute stuff" for my room had to be hauled up the stairs because the elevators were full.  After being there a couple of days I realized that I didn't need half the stuff I brought!  So I learned that just because they say you must have everything matching and you must make your parents buy you things you probably won't use, just make sure you at least have clean underwear and food.  College has shown me that somtimes those two things are overlooked.
